CIT Governance

In a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), the Trust is responsible for all of its schools/academies. For the Community Inclusive Trust, governance of our MAT resides with Members, Trustees and Local School Boards.

Members: The members are akin to the shareholders of a company. They have ultimate control over the academy Trust, with the ability to appoint some of the Trustees and the right to amend the Trust’s Articles of Association. CLICK HERE to view the CIT Articles.

Trustees: The trustees are responsible for the three core areas of governance:
– Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
– Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
– Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

CIT’s Members and Trustees oversee the whole organisation and the MAT is the legal Governing Body for all CIT schools, but much of the work of the Trust Board is delegated to the Local School Board. CLICK HERE to view the CIT Scheme of Delegation.

Meet the CIT Trust Board Members and Trustees…

Local School Boards and Local Governors: At Greenfields Academy, we have a committed team of Governors who are actively involved in the life of the school. They reflect the community we serve and include parent, community and staff representatives. Governors serve as a key link between the Trust Board, parents/carers and the local community. They monitor the performance of the school, advising the Trustees on what’s going well and of any concerns.

If you want to bring any matters to the attention of the Local School Board, you should email the Clerk: jingle.clerk@citacademies.co.uk or address your correspondence to the Chair of Governors at the school address.

The Governors are passionate about the school and are here to make sure that every young person is given the best education, opportunities and experiences possible. Our Governors play an important role in overseeing the work of the school, acting as “critical friends” for the Senior Leadership Team and holding the school to account for performance and development.

Please note that any complaints regarding the school must be raised in line with our complaints policy found HERE and cannot be raised with the Local School Board.

Meet our Local School Board…

INTERIM CHAIR OF GOVERNORS

Jane Starbuck

Jane has worked in education for many years, fulfilling roles such as Headteacher, Strategic Leader of Inclusion, and SENDCo. She previously worked for Nottinghamshire County Council as their Education Improvement Adviser with responsibility for SEND, establishing effective collaborations between schools to develop specialist and alternative provision.
Jane now works with schools in a development capacity.
Jane is also the Deputy Regional Leader for East Midlands, South Yorkshire and Humber for Whole School SEND, and a lecturer on the National SENCO Award for Nottingham Trent University.

VICE CHAIR & SAFEGUARDING GOVERNOR

Nicola Judge

Nicola has worked in the Human Resources industry for over 20 years. As a member of the CIPD, her sense of purpose is focused on giving to the community.
Nicola is motivated to provide support to the school in all areas of leadership practice and she feels strongly that all-round support will assist nourishment of the children who attend the school.
Having 3 children of her own, all with varying needs of support in their school lives, Nicola brings empathy and understanding to the parents of the school. 
As a coach to the management team where she works (within the Turbine Industry), she is experienced in understanding the needs of a leadership team. She hopes to bring balance to the stakeholders of Greenfields Academy.

HEADTEACHER

Andy Rush

Andy has worked in Education for over 20 years, 16 of them in SEMH schools; as a Teacher, Senior Leader and Director of Specialism (PE & Sport). Andy has also worked on the ‘International Inspiration’ programme with the British Council in Ghana.
Andy believes in the power of education and care to overcome barriers to learning over time and enabling pupils to more confidently access opportunities beyond school; however and whenever they occur.

PARENT GOVERNOR

Katie Bennington

Katie grew  up in Cambridgeshire until the age of 17. Now living in Grantham with her husband and son, who is severely autistic, with ADHD and learning difficulties, Katie’s first method of communication with her son was through Makaton.
Over the past 20 years, Katie has studied and worked within the care sector, mainly in a senior capacity within nursing, residential and domiciliary care settings. Katie has gained many qualifications within this field, and learned valuable experience.
Katie has a passion for special educational needs and feels privileged to be a Governor at Greenfields Academy. Working with the already  very successful Governance team, Katie supports the school in providing the best education possible for all its pupils.

David Milner

David originally worked in sales for several years then made the decision to retrain as a Primary School Teacher through Nottingham Trent University.
Having taught for the past 18 years, David is fully committed to provide a high-quality education for all pupils that prepares them well for the next phase of their education. He always makes decisions with the children’s best interests in mind; his number one priority is for them to feel safe, happy and secure.

Gayle Ellis

Gayle has worked in education for over 25 years undertaking many roles; specialising in both Early Years and Special Educational Needs. Gayle has written several educational books to help parents to support their children with reading, writing and numbers. Gayle believes passionately that all children deserve the very best education and that every child is valued and given equal opportunities.

SPECIAL INTEREST TRUSTEE

Kathryn Goodman  

Having spent a lot of her career in the delivery of Welfare Services, Kathryn saw first-hand what can happen when young people fail to get the support and education they need at an early age. Kathryn joined the Trust Board to help ensure that our young people are given the best possible start in life, are encouraged to do well and realise their potential. Kathryn also supports the Trust with her experience in business and commerce, and HR.
