‘The Grange’

Greenfields Academy - Part of C.I.T Academies

Welcome to
‘The Grange’
at Greenfields

Greenfields Academy’s small holding and farm provides a valuable resource, offering opportunities for small, targeted groups of pupils to engage in meaningful, hands-on experiences that support attendance, inclusion and SEND.

Under the guidance of Animal Care Lead, Daisy McGee, pupils have the opportunity to work with a variety of animals, including:
– 3 Alpacas
– Chickens
– Guinea Pigs
– Rabbits

Through care-based activities such as feeding and nurturing animals, walking, basic animal care and working together as a team, pupils can develop confidence, responsibility, communication skills and emotional wellbeing. These practical experiences help young people build independence, resilience and a sense of achievement while learning valuable vocational skills.

As well as developing animal care knowledge, pupils benefit from the significant therapeutic value of spending time with animals and in an outdoor environment. These experiences can help reduce anxiety, improve engagement, support emotional regulation and foster positive relationships with both peers and staff. The calm, supportive nature of the farm environment creates opportunities for pupils to thrive and succeed in a way that may not always be possible in a traditional classroom setting.

The small holding and farm also provides opportunities to support curriculum learning, personal development and wider wellbeing outcomes, making it an important resource for pupils across CIT schools.

CIT schools can request a visit to The Grange. Please contact Greenfields Academy Headteacher, Andy Rush, in the first instance to discuss availability and suitability for your pupils.
