Consultation

Greenfields Academy and the Community Inclusive Trust (CIT) are seeking approval from the Department for Education to dispose of a parcel of land the Trust holds free-hold possession of.

The consultation starts on Monday 4th September 2023, and will close on Sunday 15th October 2023. 

The land in question, known as “Stornoway”, is located on Gorse Lane, Grantham, NG1 7UF.

Stornoway transferred to the Trust when Greenfields Academy joined CIT in 2016. The land had historically been used as a paddock area for grazing animals and until recently housed a derelict bungalow. Following an arson attack in 2022, the bungalow was destroyed.

The site presents the Trust with an increasing liability, with no future prospect of, or proposal to, deliver education from it. Greenfields Academy has a sufficiency of recreation and playing field land at its main school site, which are not affected by the proposed disposal. If the disposal request is approved, the Trust would look to sell the asset, directing proceeds of the sale to the further improvement of the estate for the betterment of pupils and staff alike. (There is a Covenant in place on Stornoway and all beneficiaries are being consulted as part of this process.)
